The Reds Gaffer spoke to the media at Oakwell today ahead of Saturday's first home league game of the new season against Ipswich Town.
Following a late, late victory at Oakwell on Tuesday evening in the First Round of the Carabao Cup, Paul Heckingbottom's side are back on home turf this weekend as Mick McCarthy's Ipswich side come to Barnsley for the second round of Sky Bet Championship fixtures.
Hecky was full of praise for the spirit shown on Tuesday night and in particular he praised the players for their attacking intent and the finishing on show.
"I felt we deserved the victory," he told us. "We should have made it a lot more comfortable but in truth we showed some very good signs in an attacking sense. I was really pleased for Tom Bradshaw especially, he finished his chances well, although I know he'll regret not getting the hat-trick!
"It's great to be at Oakwell again this weekend, for the fans too who get another chance to see the new lads in the squad. I don't care where we get our wins from, home or away so long as we get them.
"Ipswich will provide a stern test as you'd expect from a Mick McCarthy side. We know where their threats are but then we know where we can hurt them too.
"In terms of players we are still looking to add to the squad, we're hopeful on three or four but these things take time. You can never speak with real certainty but we are close. We just have to keep pushing. We'll get there."
