The highly-rated midfielder joins on a permanent basis from Blackpool FC.
We are delighted to today confirm the signing of 23-year-old Brad Potts for an undisclosed fee. The midfielder joins the Reds on a three year deal, with a further option of a year in the Club’s favour.
Potts arrives at Oakwell following a superb 2016/17 campaign where he reached double figures in both goals and assists, proving to be the talisman behind promotion for the Seasiders. The return to Sky Bet League One was via a trip to Wembley with a 2-1 win over Exeter City, where Potts scored and assisted.
Having made nearly 200 first team appearances in the Football League, the former Carlisle man has amassed some real experience in his game and has a keen eye for goal as well. During his early career Potts was capped by England at U19 level, showing real talent and potential.
A versatile midfielder, he stands at 6ft 2’ tall, adding power and strength, as well as goals and flair to Paul Heckingbottom’s side. He can operate comfortably both in the middle of midfield and out wide, having played in both positions on a number of occasions.
The Head Coach was pleased to see another addition to the squad and to sign a player he has tracked for so long. Potts has had multiple options across the Football League but expressed a desire to join the Reds throughout the summer.
Heckingbottom said, “Brad is a player we’re really happy to sign. He’s shown real progression and ability throughout his time in football and is someone we have wanted to bring to the Club for a while. He brings something different to our midfield areas with his height and strength, as well as having the ability to break through down the wing or through the middle and score goals or drop deeper to protect the defence. We look forward to integrating him into the squad and seeing him on the pitch.”
