Rimmo’s Legacy Lives On At Oakwell.

12 April 2017

The Club Legend’s Season Tickets have been renewed for the 2017/18 Season.

Having worked at Barnsley Football Club for over 65 years in various roles, Norman Rimmington had two Season Tickets to use throughout his time at Oakwell. We are now delighted to announce that as a mark of remembrance, Rimmo’s Season Tickets will be honoured as we pass them on to the Rimmington family to use for as long as they so wish.

The passing of ‘Rimmo’ just after Christmas last year came as a real blow to his family, to the Football Club and to the Town of Barnsley as a whole, such was the great man’s standing.

People turned out in force to remember Norman at both his funeral service and afterwards as he made his final journey back to his beloved Oakwell.

We have passed on the Season Tickets to his family as a mark of respect and Rimmo’s grandson, Mark Brown explained that he was blown away with the gesture.

Mark told us: “We miss Rimmo ever so much as you can imagine but everyone at Barnsley FC has been so good with us in the aftermath of our loss. And we know that it wasn’t just us that felt that loss, because he was such a legendary figure in Barnsley and people from all around respected him and held him in such high regard.

“The messages and support we received during that difficult time came as a real source of comfort to us as we celebrated the great man’s life.

“Thank you to the Club for this great gesture. This family of ours is Barnsley through and through. And as the saying goes, once a Red, always a Red.”

There will always be a seat for Norman Rimmington at our Club, his Club.
