Barnsley has a British Boxing Champion!
Robbie Barrett secured the British lightweight belt by defeating Scott Cardle, in Glasgow.
The Barnsley-born fighter won a points decision to secure a deserved title, and will now walk out onto the pitch at half-time on Monday to show his belt to the crowd and gain the recognition he deserves!
We look forward to welcoming Robbie to Oakwell and are exceedingly proud to see his hard work pay off, marking another fantastic sporting achievement for Barnsley as a whole!
Toby Tyke vs Buzz Bee – The Rematch…
All the way back in October, the Reds travelled to Griffin Park on a momentous occasion for the Bees, their 4,000th league match.
The day was marked with activities and shared memories, along with two competitions. The first, and most important of course, was the match. The Reds ran out 2-0 winners in an excellent performance, continuing to show the Championship that we were a match for anybody.
The second competition, was a half-time mascot race.
Toby Tyke appeared to win the race by a clear distance and he was announced over the tannoy system as the winner. However, in the coming days, Brentford found a picture which they claimed showed Buzz Bee had won. So as all good sports do… a rematch was offered to settle the score once and for all!
So at half-time on Monday, the battle recommences. Good luck, Toby!
