Marc Roberts spoke to the media in the wake of today's defeat against Reading at Oakwell.
The defender stated that a sloppy first half hour cost the Reds who ended up chasing the game from there on in.
“We started sloppy and weren’t at the races first half. We did get better but by then the damage was already done and we’re left disappointed to lose our home record.”
Roberts believes that Reading made it difficult after going down to 10 men as they defended deep in order to preserve their lead.
“I think they showed us respect really, but we have still had a lot of chances in the final third again, I just think today we needed to be more ruthless.”
It’s a rare home defeat for the Reds and Robbo was quick to make it clear that the players and staff were now looking to focus on another big game at Brighton next weekend.
“We’ve got to put it behind us now, regroup, focus on the game next Saturday. I’m sure Hecky will already be planning for that, so we need to move on quickly from today.”
While that is the case, he feels that it also shows just how far the Reds have come in such a short space of time, that they’re disappointed with a defeat in the Sky Bet Championship.
“It definitely shows the progress. We put pressure on ourselves to perform week in, week out and I’m sure we’ll bounce back from this disappointment. We were sloppy today and we’ll be on the training ground on Monday working hard to resolve things ahead of next weekend.”
