We are delighted to announce the signing of Omari Patrick who has today agreed a one-year contract with the Club and will initially link up with the Development Squad. The frontman has been on trial with the Reds for a period of time and recently scored in the U23s 3-1 victory over Ipswich Town on the Oakwell pitch (video above). Patrick also played very well and impressed the Barnsley coaching staff against Portsmouth in the U23s Premier League Trophy match last week, and the Reds moved quickly to secure his signature.
Standing at 6ft 1’ tall, the 20-year-old is comfortable playing as a striker or out on the wing, and brings height, strength and pace to the side.
Patrick's previous club was Kidderminster Harriers where he gained vital first team experience.
Commenting on the Reds latest signing, Head of Academy Recruitment Bobby Hassell said, "He came in on trial and did really well, scoring a very good goal against Ipswich. He's quick and strong so he will be a dangerous asset in our attacking play. He is also very hard working off the ball, which is a very important and a valuable skill to have. It’s now down to him to keep working hard and get as much football under his belt as possible."
Reds fans will have an opportunity to see Omari Patrick and the rest of the U23s squad in action against Coventry City at Oakwell on Friday 30th September, 1pm kick-off. The match will be played on the main Oakwell pitch and entry is FREE.
