Adam Hammill spoke to the media after tonight's superb victory over Wolves.
It was a Molineux return to cherish for Reds winger Hammill who scored his second goal of the season in the stunning 4-0 win tonight. He was ecstatic with his night’s work.
“It was marvellous. To get on the score-sheet and on an old hunting ground, it’s great for me on a personal level but more importantly it was a great team performance and an emphatic win in the end.”
As is invariably the case when the former Wolves man scores, it was a special strike that gave the Reds a 2-0 cushion.
“It’s always nice to score a good goal but as long as it goes in the back of the net and your tally goes up you don’t really care. Look at my goal against Rotherham, it wasn’t the best but I still celebrated it like a madman!”
Hammill is delighted with the Club’s position in the table in this embryonic stage of the Championship season and with the Reds start to the season as a whole.
“We’re delighted obviously but we’re not getting carried away. We’re going to continue to take each and every game as it comes. We’re professional with what we do and I think that showed tonight.”
The former Liverpool trainee believes tonight was a perfect example of the depth and options in Paul Heckingbottom’s squad and reckons this Reds team is the best he’s ever played in.
“You only need to look at the impact of the subs tonight to see just how much depth we have available to us now. And the new lads are coming into a great group. This is definitely the best team I’ve been involved with. It’s not just the squad, it’s the staff and the whole club, it’s such a good setup and the feel-good factor has just remained since the achievements of last season. We need to maintain that momentum!”
