U23s | Sheffield Wednesday v Barnsley

12 October 2016

Paul Harsley’s U23s travel the short distance to Sheffield to take on their local South Yorkshire rivals on Friday.

Kick-off for the match is at 12pm, and will be played at Hillsborough on the main pitch. Entry is FREE for all fans.

Harsley has only been in charge for a short time, securing his side’s first away win of the season in his first away game at Cardiff City.

The three points came courtesy of a single goal from midfielder Josh Kay, who fired into the back of the net following a rebound, after Cardiff keeper Luke O’Reilly had saved his initial spot-kick.

Ryan Williams continued his return to fitness in the win over Cardiff and looks set to play another part in the match at Hillsborough.

Our opponents Sheffield Wednesday have had a good start to the season, with only two defeats in their opening eight matches. With two draws and two defeats to their record as well, Neil Thompson’s side will be determined to make it a challenging afternoon for the Reds.

You can follow the progress of the match on Friday via all the Club’s official social media accounts, swiftly followed by a match report on Club website.

Highlights from the U23s South Yorkshire derby game will be available shortly after on Barnsley Player HD!
