PREVIEW: Barnsley U18s vs Birmingham City U18s

28 October 2016

The key information ahead of this afternoon's academy clash.

Barnsley Under 18s welcome Birmingham City Under 18s to South Yorkshire this lunchtime.

Chris Howarth’s squad are looking to continue their fantastic start to the season, which has seen them go on an excellent run, losing just one of their opening 10 matches.

The Reds are currently sixth in the Northern Professional Development League on a five-match unbeaten run, from which they have taken nine points from a possible 15.

Victory this lunchtime could take the Reds as high as third in the table and their recent scoring spree has seen them find the net 12 times in their last five matches.

The Blues by comparison have managed only one win from their opening 10 fixtures, and are currently bottom of the Northern section of the league.

It took City until the third match of the season to register their first win, but they are currently on a seven game winless run.

Birmingham are the lowest scorers in the division, having scored just 14 goals and have found the net only once in their last three outings.

The visitors' most notable players are Ryan Stirk, Leo Brown and Caolan Boyd-Munce, all of whom have received international recognition at Under 17 level, with Stirk representing Wales and both Boyd-Munce and Brown Northern Ireland juniors.

Kick off for this afternoon’s fixture is 12 midday on the Oakwell Training Pitch and entry is free.
