Morsy: "There is no time to feel sorry for ourselves."

15 October 2016

Reds midfielder and Man of the Match Sam Morsy spoke to the press following the 4-2 defeat to Fulham at Oakwell this afternoon.

Sam was asked if he was disappointed with the defeat considering the Reds were twice in front.

He said, “Yeah absolutely considering we took the lead twice, we just conceded sloppy goals. Their third goal was a freak of nature, just a total miss-hit and the cross has ended up going in at the near post.

“They were poor goals conceded as a team, sometimes that happens in football but we just have to dust ourselves down. There is no time to feel sorry for ourselves as we need to go again on Tuesday.”

Morsy set up both goals for the Reds and played a big part in the match. He had built up a good understanding and partnership with central midfield partner Josh Scowen until he was dismissed.

“I think we were unfortunate with the sending off as Scowy has been fouled twice, then he got pushed into a tackle which was 50/50 at the worst. With ten men it was always going to be tough from there.”

Morsy started the match today and looks set to keep his place in the side for Tuesday night’s contest against Newcastle United at Oakwell. The Reds midfielder spoke of how pleased he was to be playing, as well as giving his feelings on the Reds current form.

“I’ve come here to play games. I enjoy playing with all the guys. Any team in the league, even the ones who end up winning the league could go five without a win so we will not worry about that.”
