Adam Armstrong Wins Goal Of The Month!

14 October 2016

The Reds forward has been rewarded for his stunning effort that secured all three points away at Preston, on his debut!

With the match level at 1-1, Armstrong came off the bench to make his debut for Paul Heckingbottom's side.

A superb floated ball over the top from Conor Hourihane gave the striker a chance to use his blistering pace against the Preston defence, before producing a stunning piece of skill to cut inside and curl the ball into the top corner, securing the Reds all three points.

Upon winning the award, Armstrong said, “I’m delighted to win the award! It happened on my debut as well which makes it even more special and it’s definitely up there with one of my best goals. Conor Hourihane picked the ball up and I just thought I’ve got to make a run because we’re on the front foot and looking to grab the winner. I managed to chase it down, turn the defender and put it in. I really enjoyed celebrating that one right in front of our travelling fans!

“I’m loving it here at Barnsley. Coming in on loan and adapting to a new environment has been massive for my development. All of the lads are great, we’ve had a strong start to the season and it’s a really positive place to be at the moment. We’ll keep working hard everyday to keep the wins coming and I feel we can go a long way this season.

“To win the award represents a big moment in my career so far - so thanks to all the fans who voted for my goal. It means a lot and hopefully it's one of many more to come this season!"

The winning goal was decided by the public vote, and Armstrong won by a large margin to confirm what a truly stunning goal he scored.
