Adam Armstrong Selected For International Duty!
3 November 2016
Following his excellent start to the season in a Reds shirt, Adam Armstrong has been rewarded with another call-up for the England U20s.
England Under 20s will get a taste of what to expect at the 2017 World Cup, when they head to South Korea for the Continental Cup next week.
The Young Lions will face opposition from the host nation, Nigeria and Iran, who will all be joining England in the competition next May and June.
And interim head coach Paul Williams has named a 24-man squad for the trip to East Asia, which will see three games in just four days.
The schedule starts on Wednesday 9 November when England face Nigeria at the Suwon World Cup Stadium, before they’re in action again 24 hours later when playing against the host nation.
The final match of the tournament takes place on Saturday 12 November against Iran, who were late replacements for Argentina in the competition.
After leading the U20s to a clean sweep of victories against Netherlands, Germany and USA on home turf last month, Williams has retained the majority of the squad from that mini-tournament.
But there is a return to the group for goalkeeper Freddie Woodman and midfielder Josh Onomah, who were both involved with the U21s last month.
The squad:
Goalkeepers: Dean Henderson (Grimsby Town, loan from Manchester United), Luke Southwood (Reading), Freddie Woodman (Newcastle United),
Defenders: Jake Clarke-Salter (Bristol Rovers, loan from Chelsea), Callum Connolly (Everton), Dael Fry (Rotherham United, loan from Middlesbrough), Jonjoe Kenny (Everton), Tafari Moore (FC Utrecht, loan from Arsenal), Taylor Moore (Bristol City), Fikayo Tomori (Chelsea), Axel Tuanzebe (Manchester United), Kyle Walker-Peters (Tottenham Hotspur)
Midfielders: Kieran Dowell (Everton), Ovie Ejaria (Liverpool), Ainsley Maitland-Niles (Arsenal), Joshua Onomah (Tottenham Hotspur), Louis Reed (Sheffield United)
Forwards: Adam Armstrong (Barnsley, loan from Newcastle United), Isaiah Brown (Rotherham United, loan from Chelsea), Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Everton), Harrison Chapman (Sheffield United, loan from Middlesbrough), Ademola Lookman (Charlton Athletic), Patrick Roberts (Celtic, loan from Manchester City), Dominic Solanke (Chelsea)
Keep up to date with Armstrong's progress across all the Club's social media channels and on the Club website.
