A Barnsley supporter is set to take centre stage during Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Final day at Wembley – after a search was launched to find a fan to represent the club on the hallowed turf.
To mark its 10th year of sponsorship of the Football League Trophy, Johnstone’s Paint is seeking one Barnsley fan and one Oxford United fan to go head-to-head at half-time of the final between the two teams on Sunday April 3.
The lucky competition winners will receive two tickets to the game, win a replica club shirt and compete in a special version of the Johnstone’s Paint Pot Challenge, which has proved popular with professional players over recent years.
Each fan will have 30 seconds to try and hit the giant inflatable paint pot with two balls from three separate distances – 10, 20 and 30 yards.
The winner will receive £250.
Fans can enter by filling in the online form at www.johnstonestrade.com/paintpotchallenge before Friday March 11, including nominating which club they would be representing if they are picked out of the random draw.
Richard Mazurkiewicz, marketing manager of Johnstone’s Trade, said: “Many professional footballers go through their entire career without having the chance to step on to the pitch at Wembley so this is an opportunity not to be missed by Barnsley fans.
“It’s a unique chance for fans to sample what it’s like to be at the centre of the action on the Wembley turf in front of thousands of spectators at a major occasion like the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Final.
“We are now in our tenth year of sponsoring the Football League Trophy and it’s fantastic that we are still bringing colour to the beautiful game by providing people with unforgettable memories such as this.”
The Johnstone’s Paint Pot Challenge has provided the ultimate test of accuracy for dozens of professional clubs with tens of thousands of people viewing the challenge on the official Johnstone’s Paint Trophy YouTube channel.
