Templeton Pens New Deal

22 January 2016

Barnsley Football Club is pleased to announce Matty Templeton has extended his stay at Oakwell until the summer of 2017, with a club-option for a further year.

The 19-year-old Academy product has impressed for the Under 21s this season and was rewarded with his first senior appearance in the Capital One Cup back in August.

His third appearance - a home league debut to Blackpool - was certainly the most memorable as he swept home a sweet strike to secure three points in stoppage time at Oakwell.

Speaking to barnsleyfc.co.uk, the midfielder said, “I’m really pleased to extend my stay here and just want to keep working hard.

“I’m enjoying my training and my football as there are some great coaches here. I’m grateful to everyone in the Academy and the gaffer for helping me so far.

“To make my home debut and score was a dream come true. I’m determined to work hard and make more memories like my home debut.”

Reds Head Coach Lee Johnson added, "I'm really happy for Matty and he knows that the hard work starts now. He has some standout attributes and I'm delighted he has chosen to continue his development with us."
