The 20-year-old will remain a Red up to and including our away match at Gillingham on Saturday 13th February.
The energetic midfielder spent time with Manchester United's Academy before penning his scholarship at Preston - where he graduated as a professional.
"Josh is bright and energetic he'll fit into our group well," said Reds Head Coach Lee Johnson.
"He'll bring strength in competition to the squad and I'm sure he'll prove a positive addition over the next 28 days."
