Johnson Nominated for Manager of the Month

6 January 2016

Reds Head Coach Lee Johnson has been nominated for the Sky Bet League One 'Manager of the Month Award' for December.

After guiding the Reds into the Area Final of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy with a penalty shotoout win at Wigan, the Reds went on to pick up six points out of a possible nine during the festive campaign.

Here is the list of nominees in full:

Nigel Adkins (Sheffield United)
Consistency has been a problem for his side this season, something he managed to rectify in December. United gained nine points from nine and only conceded one goal as they moved back into the promotion picture.

Justin Edinburgh (Gillingham)
His ability to inspire his team to respond to a setback was in evidence again. Defeat at the beginning of the month was instantly forgotten with wins over Millwall, Swindon Town and Colchester United to maintain their promotion hopes.

Lee Johnson (Barnsley)
Proved that the Barnsley board is full of wise men by staying true to his footballing principles. His belief in his players never wavered during an awful run of autumn results. His reward was six points from a possible nine.

Sean O’Driscoll (Walsall)
Made the transition from the Dean Smith era appear seamless by leading his new side to three straight victories. Encourages his players to think for themselves on the pitch, which they did to regain top spot in League 1.

ALL WINNERS WILL BE ANNOUNCED ON FRIDAY JANUARY 8 2016

The judging panel comprises former Ipswich Town manager George Burley, Sky Sports’ Football League expert Don Goodman; Football League Chief Operating Officer Andy Williamson; League Managers’ Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery.
