Morsy: "It’s an excellent opportunity for us to get another three points."

9 December 2016

Reds midfielder Sam Morsy spoke to the press at Oakwell ahead of the Norwich match this weekend.

Morsy has been an ever present in the Reds squad since signing for the Club on-loan in August and is enjoying his time at Oakwell so far.

Sam started by reflecting on the superb 3-0 victory away at Birmingham City last weekend.

“It was a really good win. They were fourth in the league prior to the game with a really good home record and we knew we would have to be at our best to beat them, and I think we were. I felt we outworked them. They tend to bully side’s but we didn’t let that happen to us and if anything we probably bullied them a little bit and got an excellent three points.”

The Reds have only suffered one loss in their last six matches and Morsy feels that is important, because every points counts.

“Even when we haven’t been winning we’ve been picking up draws the majority of the time. Each of those points is going to be a big one and I think we’ve only been beaten once in six games which is positive, we’re all happy.

“That’s what you need to do to be in and around, when you’re not winning game after game it’s important to just be picking up points, ticking the games off, then if you go on a little run then all of a sudden you’ll be up there.”

Norwich will be the visitors to Oakwell on Saturday. The Canaries, as expected, are in and around the promotion hunt but currently sit just outside the play-off places. They come to Barnsley off the back of a crushing 5-0 win over Brentford.

“They’re a quality team that have kept the majority of their Premier League squad and they’ve also added some good players as well. They’re probably not doing as well as they’d like to, but they had a fantastic win at the weekend but I believe it’s an excellent opportunity for us to get another three points.

“Our confidence is high and if we can replicate some of our away form at home, then we’ll be doing better than what we are. I feel so far that our performances haven’t matched our points tally but we’ve got an opportunity to do so now.”
