Scowen On Last Minute Winner!

17 August 2016

A delighted Josh Scowen told of his joy at scoring a last minute winner under the lights of Oakwell.

The Reds left it late as Scowen popped up in the 89th minute to give his Barnsley side a deserved win, and send the fans into delirium.

Scowen said, “It was a thrilling end, I’m glad we were on the right side of it and I managed to get the goal. I’m feeling confident going into the next game.

“Breezy (James Bree) put the ball up, Stef (Stefan Payne) challenged for it and did well to hook it on, I just carried on running and luckily it fell to my feet!”

The Reds played some superb football all night, but found themselves trailing after QPR scored two second half penalties. Scowen spoke of how he felt the Reds played.

He said, “I think we played well tonight, obviously the two penalties were not great but overall we deserved the points! It’s showing we’re in good form – We put two past Derby at the weekend and three in tonight. I think going forward the boys are looking good and we are confident going into Saturday.

“I think we’ve showed in all the games we’re not out of it, we’re not a long way off, it’s just cutting out the little bits defensively. Going forward we can mix it with the big boys and hopefully we can do it again at the weekend.”
