Barnsley U18s will face local South-Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday this weekend in their second league game of the season.

Kick-off is at 11am on the Oakwell training pitch, located behind the North Stand, and entry is FREE. 

Come down and support Barnsley’s hot-prospects of the future in their South-Yorkshire derby, before the first team play their own derby against Rotherham United at 3pm on the main Oakwell surface. 

Martin Devaney and Chris Howarth’s side opened their league campaign with a thrilling 3-3 draw with Premier League academy Watford, last weekend. You can view the Reds goals on

On the match ahead, Martin Devaney said, This will be a great fixture for the lads. The majority of the side are local, and Barnsley fans so the thought of playing their rivals excites them.

“We had a very good pre-season, scoring a lot of goals, and we have kicked this season off in the same way. Unfortunately we couldn’t get the win against a very good Watford side but we have been working hard all week so I am hoping that can come this weekend.”
