Adam Jackson: "I’ve been dying to get down here and get started!"

31 August 2016

New Reds defender Adam Jackson, spoke exclusively to Barnsley Player HD after completing his move to Oakwell on Tuesday!

The Darlington born centre half, 22, arrived from Premier League outfit Middlesbrough, joining the Reds on a three-year deal after the two clubs agreed an undisclosed fee.

‘Jacko’ says he can’t wait to get started and spoke of his delight at finally getting the deal over the line.

“The deal has been in the pipeline for a while really,” said Jackson. “I’ve had to wait for the two clubs to get it sorted, I’ve been dying to get down here and get started.”

Having worked under former Reds star Craig Hignett whilst on-loan with Hartlepool United last season, Adam told us that ‘Higgy’ had been very complimentary about the Club.

“I spoke to him just before I agreed to sign and he couldn’t say anything but good stuff about the Club to be honest. He said he loved his time here, it’s a great set of people, a great Club, he highly recommended it.”

Having been at Oakwell for last weekend’s South-Yorkshire derby victory over Rotherham United, Jackson has already sampled the Oakwell atmosphere and has become a big fan!

On the 4-0 victory, Adam said, “What a game, what a second half! It was a brilliant second half, the boys really turned it on in a brilliant atmosphere.

“I spoke with the gaffer on Saturday and he outlined what he wanted from me and how he saw me fitting into his plans. I just can’t wait to get on the training ground and get started now.”

Jackson then went on to explain what sort of player he was to the Barnsley fans.

“I’m aggressive in the air, I like to win a tackle but I think I can read the game quite well also. I hope I can get the chance to show all that out there on the pitch.”
