Adam Armstrong Signs For Barnsley!

30 August 2016

Prolific Newcastle United striker completes loan move to Oakwell.

We are delighted to confirm the signing of Newcastle United striker Adam Armstrong. The lightning fast striker joins the Reds on an initial loan deal until January 2017 and will link up with Paul Heckingbottom’s side immediately.

The Reds fought off a whole host of suitors for the prolific goal scoring talent and we are delighted to welcome him to Oakwell.

The strikers stunning ability to finish has seen him score a complete range of goals from close-range finishes inside the area, to long distance strikes. He has the talent to use both feet when taking chances, as well as the ability to springboard off the floor to score headers.

A hugely successful loan spell at Coventry City in League One last season saw the striker net 20 goals in 40 appearances!

Having come through the Newcastle United academy, Armstrong is highly rated in the game and has represented England at international level across multiple age groups, scoring a huge amount of goals in the process.

Armstrong has been capped 36 times for England between the age ranges of the Under 16s to the Under 19s, scoring an incredible 23 goals in a glittering start to his career.

Pictured above with Reds Head Coach Paul Heckingbottom, Armstrong took time out from training this afternoon with the England Under 20s squad at St George’s Park, to sign for the Reds! The England Under 20s begin a season of World Cup preparation on Sunday when they host Brazil in Kidderminster. The Reds latest signing is expected to feature in the game which will be shown live on BT Sport!

After securing the services of Armstrong, Reds Head Coach Paul Heckingbottom spoke of his delight. “Firstly, I am very thankful to Newcastle United for allowing Adam to come on loan here. He is a player I am incredibly pleased to bring to the Club and one I have been enquiring about for some time.

“His talent and goal scoring abilities are clear to see as he was excellent in League One last season scoring a tonne of goals. We’ve started the season in great form, scoring a lot of goals and I have no doubts that Adam will make an instant impact and excite the fans.”
