Town Hall Trophy Celebrations Confirmed For Thursday!

5 April 2016

Barnsley Football Club and Barnsley Council are inviting proud Reds fans to bring Wembley fever back to the town in celebration of last weekend’s Johnstone's Paint Trophy Final victory!

The winning team will be welcomed to Barnsley Town Hall this Thursday 7th April where they will make an appearance on the balcony to show off the prized trophy.

Fans are invited to celebrate with the Reds from 6pm to 6.30pm at the front of the Town Hall and are encouraged to help paint the town red by bringing flags and wearing the team colours!

Following the spectacular 3-2 win at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, Reds Caretaker Head Coach Paul Heckingbottom, said: “We’re proud and delighted to bring the trophy back to Barnsley and look forward to celebrating with fans at the heart of the town centre. The support and atmosphere at Wembley on Sunday was absolutely incredible - it was a proud moment for everyone associated with Barnsley Football Club and I’m sure that fans will be out in force again on Thursday.

“On behalf of all the players and staff, thank you for your fantastic support throughout our journey to Wembley and we look forward to seeing you at the town hall celebrations. Wear your colours with pride and make plenty of noise!”

Mayor of Barnsley, Cllr Brian Mathers, said: “We’re really proud to see our home team bringing back the silverware. It was a fantastic result for the players and fans, many of whom made the trip to Wembley to support the team. We hope that there will be a sea of supporters cheering the Tykes to show them how proud Barnsley is of them.”

Due to the town hall celebrations, the following road closures will be in effect in Barnsley town centre on Thursday 7th April: Church Street, Saddler Gate, St Mary’s Gate - roads closed from 4.30pm, diversions will be in place. Church Street on road parking will be suspended from 4.30pm. Restrictions will be lifted as soon as possible after the event.
