Kids from across the town are set to enjoy Saturday’s crucial game against Colchester United!
We are delighted to announce that over 1000 free tickets have been distributed to schools in the local borough for Saturday’s crucial game against Colchester United.
As part of our Reds in the Community ‘tickets-for-schools’ programme, a number of partner schools have been rewarded with tickets for their outstanding contribution to the local community and children’s sport throughout the 2015/16 Season. Year 1 and 2 pupils from Joseph Locke Primary, Cherry Dale Primary, Holy Trinity Primary, Mapplewell Primary and Royston St John Primary School will now be joining us at Oakwell on Saturday for the big game!
Reds Chief Executive Ben Mansford commented, “We’re delighted to welcome school children from around the Barnsley borough for our huge game against Colchester United on Saturday. It’s vitally important that we engage with local schools and inspire the next generation of fans here at Oakwell. These children are our fans of the future so we’re committed to giving them unique opportunities to attend big occasions such as the game on Saturday.
We would have liked to have given further tickets away to schools but unfortunately the stewarding and policing plans were already in place. These plans, given the threat of a pitch invasion, were not capable of flexibility at a late stage.
However, the addition of 1000 extra people cheering on Paul and the players will surely help to pack the Stadium and create a fantastic atmosphere for what is a crucial game in our Season. Enjoy the game!”
