Johnson: Reds Must Focus For Blackpool Clash

17 September 2015

Lee Johnson spoke to the press ahead of this weekend’s trip to Blackpool's Bloomfield Road.

After Saturday’s excellent win against Swindon, Johnson confirmed there were no fresh injury concerns ahead of the match against The Seasiders.

Ryan Williams came off in the first half against The Robins but the Reds Head Coach explained that Williams played sixty minutes in an U21’s match during the week and came through fine.

Dan Crowley is hopeful of making a return this weekend after a slight tear in his thigh and Joe Rothwell was back in training this week after recovering from tonsillitis.

Johnson said, “Everyone other than those three mentioned are fine. We’ve all had a smile on our face this week after a good win. I think we are set up to be consistent now. We’ve had a big week working on communication again and it’s helped.”

Looking ahead to the Blackpool match Johnson was demanding his team remain focussed. “The consistency of our results now depends on communication. We have a good chance of getting results in most games if we can do that.”

Johnson continued, “Blackpool are a decent side. They spent a lot of money this summer and they will be frustrated at the start they had. Their forwards are lively and effective, I know Martin Paterson and he is a very good signing. Against Gillingham they were very unlucky not to get a result as they worked hard, so it will be tough for us and we need to focus.”

After different tactics in recent weeks Johnson stated his side were able to play different ways if he required them too and said, “First and foremost I want us to win the game. We have decisions to make on formations as it could be three in midfield, or it could be two. We come up with a different game plan against each opposition and this Saturday will be no different.”
