Wabara on Facing Former Club

1 October 2015

Reds defender Reece Wabara will be returning to familiar surroundings on Saturday as he will come up against former side Doncaster Rovers.

Wabara knows it will be a tough match but he is determined to secure the win for the Reds, “Doncaster haven’t been in the best of form and it is our job to capitalise on that," said Wabara. "It’s a bit of a transitional period for them and I know a lot of the players very well, but I’m a Barnsley player now and I want to win.”

Wabara is happy with life at Barnsley after only a short time here. The young full-back has settled in well and is playing regularly which he feels is making his life a settled one.  “I’ve loved every second at the club so far," he added. "Now it’s just a case of me trying to keep improving and bettering myself and I feel I’m doing that every week.

“There’s a good team vibe and a good togetherness. If we can continue that and put together some good results it will stand us in good stead for the rest of the season.”

The defender was eager to mention the influence of Head Coach Lee Johnson on himself and the squad as a whole. “We play some great football and that’s down to the gaffer," he added. "We can be one of the best sides in the league which is clear to see from the last three performances.”
