The Wales Under-21 international has signed a loan deal at Oakwell which runs until January 3rd, 2016.
"He's a good signing for us," Head Coach Lee Johnson told barnsleyfc.co.uk. "He's got pace, has an eye for goal and he's a very bright player.
"With Kadeem Harris going back soon, Marley Watkins out injured and Ryan Williams still recovering, Lloyd is just the type of player what we need.
"I'm looking forward to working with him over the coming months."
The 22-year-old graduated from the illustrious Southampton F.C. Academy before being capped at Under-21 level by Wales.
Lloyd will wear squad number 34.
