Lee Johnson's Crewe Reaction

10 October 2015

Reds Head Coach Lee Johnson spoke to the press after a frustrating afternoon at Oakwell which saw the Reds lose to Crewe Alexandra.

Johnson believed the match was a one-sided affair in favour of Barnsley, but somehow the Reds couldn’t come out on top.

“We’ve dominated from start to finish,” said Johnson. “I can’t put my finger on why we haven’t won that game comfortably. I’m disappointed with some of the decisions. Hourihane is onside and given off. Sam Winnall scores but is also given offside when he wasn’t.

“This is the most frustrated I’ve been in my managerial career. I believe in the group and they’ve done alright today. No lack of passion or work rate, but the quality wasn’t there on occasions. They’ve had near enough twenty shots on goal but for whatever reason we’ve not got a result.”

After today’s defeat, Johnson was keen for his side to bounce back quickly against Bradford in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy on Tuesday night.

“It’s a good thing we have a game Tuesday,” explained Johnson. “We have to keep going. The lads won’t lose confidence from that game. They’ll go into the Bradford game knowing they’re in decent form individually, we just need to find the formula to set us off on a three to four game win streak.”

The Reds Head Coach attempted to sum up the match by saying, “The end product is our floor at the moment. We’re getting into good areas and teams are finding it difficult to match us, so they sit off. When they sit off you’ve got to find a bit of magic and quality but we haven’t had that today.”
