Barnsley Football Club is delighted to welcome Newcastle United starlet Ivan Toney to Oakwell, with the forward penning an initial 28-day loan with the Reds.
The 19-year-old built up a reputation as a fast, goal-scoring forward whilst at Northampton Town, prompting Premier League Newcastle United to snap up the talented striker back in August.
Reds Head Coach Lee Johnson said, “Ivan is quick and he’s a goal-threat. He’s just what we need in the final third and he’s very highly thought of at Newcastle. I’m really pleased Steve McClaren and Newcastle have allowed us to take Ivan on board.
“He has lots of different attributes in his locker and can score different types of goals. We’re all excited to have him in the dressing room because he can be add that bit of quality in the final third.”
The striker told Barnsley PlayerHD, “Barnsley’s a great Club and I’m hoping to bring something to the team.
“I’m delighted to be here and can’t wait to get started. I’m ready to go.
“Hopefully I can bring that spark and something different – hopefully a lot of goals.”
