This Saturday’s game against Port Vale has been designated as our remembrance fixture at Oakwell and you can read several exclusive features this weekend in Be Red.
We spoke with Peter Holland, relative of Wilfred Bartrop and author of the book Swifter Than The Arrow: Football and War which tells the story of Barnsley's Wilfred Bartrop who lost his life just days before the end of WWI in 1918.
As we approach the centenary of the Battle of the Somme, we caught up with military historian and author, Paul Reed, who explains the battle's significance and events taking place to commemorate it next year.
Local MP, Dan Jarvis, has also contributed with an exclusive column, stressing the importance of remembering and honouring those lost at war.
We also have plenty of other regular features in Be Red this weekend, including: Winnall Takes It All, Ian McMillan, Dream Reds XI, Away Days and, of course, matchday notes from Lee Johnson and Alfie Mawson.
Don't miss your copy from around Oakwell for just £3 and continue your collection to put together the Club crest on the programme spines!
