Johnson's Rochdale Reaction

3 May 2015

Lee Johnson gave his post match thought after seeing his side thrash Rochdale 5-0 in the final game of the season.

"It is a great send off for the fans isn't it, everybody can go home happy and enjoy tonight and know that we will improve, because our young players have been on show today and done very well competing with a good side. Obviously once the send off came, we totally dominated a good side and with the additions that we will bring in, it will make us stronger."

Praising Conor Hourihane's performance, Johnson said: "He is just so effective isn't he, got player of the year and rightly so because of the influence he has had. You bring them on to provide that fantastic whipped delivery and it is dangerous. You see Scowen, 5ft 6, scores two goals today because the deliveries were that good it doesn't matter how big you are."

Speaking about the amount of youth players in the squad, he said: "It was a very good day for the youth system of the club, that was part of the reason I was attracted to this club and I certainly won't have any fear of playing the young players, if you are 17 or 37, if you are good enough, you'll play.

"Lets enjoy the moment of a good win with our good young players on show, playing in a good style. It is all primed for progression, when you look at the young players coming through, like James Bree, he is ahead of his years.. he could be an exceptional addition as well. It is good, we seem to churn out full backs for fun at this club. If we can add a couple of forward players to that then it will only bode well for the future."
