Final 'Fit Reds' FREE Health Programmes Kick Off This Week!

8 May 2015

Take part in our nine week FREE health programmes, starting at Oakwell and Penistone this week.

Are you looking to get into a healthier lifestyle and do more exercise? Well our final nine week FREE 'Fit Reds' programmes kick-off this week at Penistone Grammer School on Tuesday 12th May, and at Oakwell on Thursday 14th May!

Aimed at men aged 35+, Fit Reds is in its third year and was set up to help generate awareness and help reduce the high levels of cardiovascular disease. The programme was developed by the Barnsley FC Trust, Barnsley Health Trainer Service and NHS Barnsley.

As well as practical football sessions, participants also have the opportunity to participate in diet and nutrition sessions delivered by community health trainers employed by PSS, a national social enterprise health organisation aiming to address health inequalities.

So far, over 340 men have benefited from the programme which has resulted in massive reductions in waistlines, blood pressure readings and weight.

If you would like to discuss the programme in more detail or to book your place, please contact our Fit Reds Project Coordinator Lee Thompson via lee.thompson@barnsleyfc.co.uk or telephone 01226 211 333. Alternatively, watch the film below for an overview of the programme.
