Reds v Walsall: Post Match Reaction

7 March 2015

Speaking after this afternoon's impressive 3-0 win, Head Coach Lee Johnson was more than happy with what he had seen from his side.

"I was delighted with the win, it was a really good three points for us given the fact that it was our third game in a week.

"Where we won the game today was the substitutions and the energy they gave us. It is nice to see Sam back and Jabo comes on and gives a bit too. We got the goal at the right time as well which was very important."

Speaking about his decision to make the changes he said: "It was a dilemma in my mind because you think do I try and hold on to the lead or try and get another goal. I felt we needed to apply a bit more pressure higher up and I think when Sam came on and got hold of it, it worked very well.

"We didn't think George had it in him, when he was doing his first step-over we were like what on earth is he doing, next minute it was in the corner of the net and we were saying we knew you could do that. We're delighted for him, he worked hard again and he is on a real good run of form.

"It wasn't the finished article today, 3-0 maybe maybe flattered us. Certainly we had the chances and we took them but the defence was outstanding.

"It was a nice atmosphere, it certainly gives the players and everyone else a boost."
