Oldham v Reds Post Match Reaction

14 March 2015

Lee Johnson's return to Oldham proved to be a happy one as Barnsley ran out 3-1 winners to stretch the Reds winning run to six matches.

So how was it being back at Oldham?

"It was tough if I'm honest," said Lee Johnson. "Of course it was fantastic to get the win and that's what it is about, but it was not easy. It was very raw as you could tell and it was just a case of trying to be as professional as I could and get on with the game."

"I enjoyed the first 15-20 minutes as I thought the lads had to play the atmosphere and I thought they played it very well. We didn't have too much going forward but we had a nice shape and limited them to pretty much nothing and then we scored the goal. I don't think it was a great game today. It was certainly passionate and charged, but it wasn't a great game in terms of quality from either side in my opinion. But we've been professional, scored a couple from set pieces and won the game which is what we came to do.

"If you're going to be successful you need to share the goals around the team and it was great for Lewin to get two goals today. I thought Conor Hourihane was really assured today. He had a nice calm head when everything was going a bit crazy around him and that was good as he was the catalyst.

"I thought young Mason Holgate was fantastic because Jonathan Forte is a very good player and if he gets a head of steam he is pretty much impossible to mark, but for a young 18 year old to pretty well mark him out of the game was exceptional."
