Reds youngster Matty Templeton 'loved' his pre-season cameo at Guiseley in last night's pre-season fixture.
Barnsley drew 0-0 at Nethermoor Park, with first-year professional Templeton appearing as a second-half substitute - his first appearance alongside the first-team.
"I loved it," said the 18-year-old. "It was great to get out. I was warming up for quite a bit. I enjoyed it.
"He (Head Coach Lee Johnson) wanted me to get on the ball and drive through the middle - to be positive."
Templeton looks set to push on next term alongside fellow first-year professional Bailey Gooda - with the two having progressed from the Under 18s.
"I always want to win," continued Templeton. "I'm passionate and want to give my best going forward. The only way you win games is by going forward and getting at people, so that's what I try to do.
"I've played most of last season at left-back and at left-wing.
"I've had help with personal training to try and get fit and strong. I knew it would be tough when I came back to play with better players with more experience. I'm trying my best and I always want to be ready."
