Sam Winnall pays young Reds supporter Joseph Chapman a surprise visit at home following recent road accident!
Barnsley Football Club was saddened to hear about 13-year-old Reds fan Joseph Chapman who was badly injured in a recent road accident. Life-long supporter Joseph who lives in Wilthorpe, Barnsley and attends Horizon Community College suffered injuries to his skull, ribs, shoulders and arms. Joseph spent a period of time in intensive care at Sheffield’s Children's Hospital.
Thankfully Jospeh is now back on his feet and is recovering well at home where he is being cared for by his family and friends.
To show our support and to wish Joseph a big “get well soon” from everyone at Barnsley Football Club, we sent his favourite player Sam Winnall round to his house for a surprise visit! Sam took some time out after training and chatted to Joseph, his brother Jacob and his friend Cameron and presented Joseph with a new 2015/16 home shirt which has been signed by the entire first team squad.
Following the accident Joseph’s friend Cameron Pyne has been busy generating support from the local community and raising money to help Joseph’s recovery through a number of fundraising activities at school. To thank Cameron for his incredible support of his friend at such a difficult time, Sam also presented him with a limited edition Barnsley shirt as a gift.
From everyone at Barnsley Football Club, we wish Joseph a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing you back at Oakwell very soon!
