Danny's Middlesbrough Reaction

3 January 2015

Reds boss Danny Wilson caught up with Barnsley Player following his side's 2-0 defeat to Middlesbrough.

"There are some pluses," said Wilson. "The first half everybody thought they'd go straight through us. We contained them for large parts.

"They had chances, which you'd expect, but really didn't make anything of it."

Both goals came in the second half as the Reds missed out on a place in Round Four of the FA Cup.

"I'm really disappointed in conceding the first goal in the manner that we did because we had good possession of the ball," he added.

"It gave them the lift that they were looking for.

"I was just hoping we could get through with the scores level, or us scoring of course, in the early parts of the second. But, unfortunately, it was the other way round.

"You're always disappointed when you're in good situations and good positions but it fizzles out. We did that too many times today. We had great situations that were developing and you could see Middlesbrough, as a team, were scrambling to get back to us and then we just gave possession away. It really let them off the hook on more than one occasion."
