Scunthorpe v Reds: Post Match Reaction

24 February 2015

Following Barnsley's victory over Scunthorpe United on the road Mark Burton talked to the media.

"The lads and the staff were superb tonight. They showed great determination when we went down to ten men. Everyone put a shift in, got the tackles and blocks in and could have had a couple of goals as well when we went forward. I'm chuffed to bits for the fans as well who travelled down in their numbers again.

"We had a belief tonight. We talked about it before the match about expectations and no disrespect to Scunthorpe but we want to come here and win games. We wanted to put away the demons of the away form, get three points and kick on and get up the table. If the lads continue to show that commitment and desire and the passion then we will. I'm proud of every one of them tonight.

"Jean misread the play a couple of times to get sent off. I can't really complain about them. Once we got the goal I thought we would get two or three. Scunthorpe started brightly in the second half and our goal was against the run of play and then after the sending off we needed to rejig the shape.

"We get our shape under pressure to win the balls and on the counterattack we had some chances. We had a couple of hairy moments but we didn't really look like conceding. Adam Davies is a quality goalkeeper and made some good saves, but I expected him to make them. He's a good keeper."
