A food drop-off point will be set up at Oakwell ahead of our game against Walsall on Saturday 7th March.
The Barnsley FC Community Trust is teaming up with Barnsley Foodbank Partnership to raise awareness and increase food donations to support local people in crisis. Everyday people in the UK go hungry for reasons ranging from redundancy to receiving an unexpected bill on a low income. The great work of Barnsley Foodbank provides a minimum of three days emergency food for those most in need.
The initiative will form part of National Citizen Service Programme which involves young people delivering a social action project in support of their community. We have a group of 15 young people who will be volunteering throughout the initiative, from matchday collections to sorting into packs in the depot and distribution.
To help boost supplies we will be providing a food drop off point at our upcoming home fixture against Walsall on Saturday 7th March. Containers will be placed in the main car park outside the lottery office from 2pm onwards.
We are calling on the local community and our supporters to show your support and donate what you can for a great cause. Your donations will enable the team to provide much needed emergency food to local people in crisis.
