Speaking to barnsleyfc.co.uk after penning the extension, the 20-year-old said, "I'm delighted to have signed another month. There are a lot of games coming up in February and I'm delighted to be involved.
"I was always looking to extend to see how many games I could get under my belt. I've started well so, hopefully, I can push on."
The midfielder's senior debut on January 10th yielded a man-of-the-match display, and he then went on to score his first goal against Port Vale three weeks later.
"I couldn't have asked for a better start," he continued. "Game by game I'm getting better and stronger, getting used to the league so, hopefully, the next few games the fans will see the real me.
"We're underachieving at the minute. It only takes three or four wins then we're in the Play-Offs. We'll have to evaluate after February and see how we're doing."
