Reds striker Sam Winnall spoke to the press this morning ahead of his side’s first match in 2016.
The Reds play Millwall on Saturday, and Winnall wants to start the New Year off just how the old one ended - with lots of goals and three points!
“It‘s pleasing for me to get back in amongst the goals.” said Winnall. “We felt we played well (against Blackpool), we needed to do that at home, it’s been a while since we dominated a team here and it was a good way to end 2015.
“We know it’s been a frustrating start to the season so we need to turn it round as quick as possible. We are really pleased how we played against Blackpool and hopefully we can take that into the second half of the season.
“I feel we’ve found a balanced side and something that works, we’ve got a style of play and shape. It’s starting to come together. Hopefully now we’ve got the performances, it’s about getting the results.”
Winnall wants to ensure the team remains focused throughout the transfer window, despite the fact there could be new faces coming in, as well as some going out.
“January is going to be a big month for us.” explained Winnall. “We’ve got the JPT first leg and there could be changes to the squad. Players like myself who are definitely here know it’s about focusing on what we can do and turning the performances into results.
“We know the challenge Millwall pose, we had a great result down there earlier in the year. That gives us belief to know we can get the result here at Oakwell. We’ve got to do everything we can to get another three points.
“I’m not satisfied with nine goals, I want more. The performances have turned and we’ve definitely had more positive results against tough sides. Everyone can see that, I’m sure the fans can see it.”
