Adam Hammill Extends Reds Stay!

8 December 2015

Winger signs contract until 30th June 2016!

We are delighted to announce that winger Adam Hammill has signed an extension to his current contract, keeping him at the Club until 30th June 2016.

Adam re-joined the Reds on a short-term contract in early November and has since gone on to make a number of impressive performances in the Red shirt, including the winning goal and Man of the Match award against York City on his return back to Oakwell.

On securing Adam’s services to the end of the 2015/16 campaign, Reds Head Coach Lee Johnson said, "Adam made no secret of his desire to stay at Barnsley and we’re naturally delighted to have secured his services to the end of the season. It’s clear that Adam is passionate about this Football Club, he’s committed to the cause and he has proven qualities, so it’s a deal that I’m thrilled to get over the line and we can now plan for the second half of the season with Adam a key part of our squad.

"You only have to look at the way he celebrated his goal on Saturday to see just how big a connection he has with the fans, so I’m sure they’re just as pleased as I am to have him on board for the remainder of the season. Adam has undisputed talent and he’ll be a big asset to us over the coming months, starting with a huge game against Colchester on Saturday”.

Now 27, Hammill endeared himself to the Reds faithful in the Championship back in 2009 on loan before joining permanently from Liverpool in August the same year. He went on to net eight goals in 27 games in the first half of the 2010/11 campaign, his blistering form prompting Wolves to take the winger into the Premier League. In his current spell at Oakwell, he has made six appearance scoring two goals and the winger is delighted to have committed his immediate future to the Club.

Speaking exclusively to barnsleyfc.co.uk Adam said, “I’m delighted to get my immediate future sorted out and commit myself to the Club for the remainder of the season. Since coming back I’ve enjoyed every minute and I’ve said all along that I would love to remain here beyond January. We have a great bunch of lads here and I really feel at home, so I didn’t give it a second thought when I got the opportunity to sign until June. I can’t wait to get going again and carry on where we left off on Saturday!”.
