Davies Eyes Cup Progress

11 August 2015

Reds goalkeeper Adam Davies has targeted a Cup run ahead of his side's Capital One Cup First Round tie tonight at Scunthorpe United.

The Barnsley number one is certain the Reds can bounce back from Saturday's opening day defeat at Chesterfield with a trip to Glanford Park on the cards.

"All of the lads want a run in the Cup," said Davies. "We won't approach the game any differently to a league game. It's another game of football that we just want to win.

"Saturday was disappointing but I think there was enough in the first half performance to be positive about. We showed we can attack well and it's something we can build on.

"We want to reward our fans because they have been absolutely amazing. I was buzzing playing in front of a sell-out stand on Saturday. They've been absolutely fantastic and we want to reward them."

Kick-off at Glanford Park is at 7:45pm tonight, with admission via cash on the turnstiles. It's the first trip of two to North Lincolnshire in August, as the Reds were also drawn against the Iron for the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

"At the end of the day, it's a chance to get to Wembley," continued Davies. "I'm sure the fans will be wanting us to progress as far as possible, just like we do. You've only got to look at the likes of Bradford and how well they've done in the Cup recently - anything is possible."
