Lee Johnson's Colchester Reaction

6 April 2015

Reds Head Coach Lee Johnson gave his thoughts on today's 3-1 defeat at Colchester United.

"First half - I thought we were excellent," said Johnson. "We were fluid in our passing, created numerous opportunities and had corners and free-kicks. We were dangerous.

"It was a definite penalty on Conor Hourihane. I was disappointed we didn't come in at 2-0 up. At half time, it was more of the same lads - keep going. But I thought we were  a little bit sloppy.

"We shouldn't have let them get the head of steam like they did in the second half. We should have won that game today.

"My players should be very, very disappointed with themselves.

"Sam Winnall is 100% onside. We've seen it again and he's half a yard on, not even level. It's cost us today. If we go in 2-0 up and we're cruising or get it to two-all. I'm very frustrated and angry, but it does happen at times.

"We bossed it and controlled it and it's the closes I've seen as an image in my mind what I want us to be about. There's that soft underbelly at the minute and we'e got so stamp that out. We'll be signing players that haven't got one.

"Players started looking they'd had two games in two days, mentally rather than physically.

"We've given ourselves a lot to do now. I thought James Bailey was excellent today. He was calm and controlled."
