Barnsley Football Club is saddened to learn of the death of former midfielder Billy Ronson at the age of 58.

Having joined the Reds from Wrexham in the summer of 1982, the midfielder went on to appear 127 times for the Reds in over three years, netting three goals.

During his Oakwell years he became a popular player as he featured alongside the likes of Ronnie Glavin and Ian Banks.

He also represented Blackpool and Cardiff before later playing indoor football in the United States.

The Club would like to pass its sincerest condolences to Billy's family at this difficult time.
