Youngsters Up For Cup Clash at Carlisle

3 November 2014

Reds Academy Manager Ronnie Branson says the FA Youth Cup tie at Carlisle is a big game for his youngsters, with Barnsley’s Under 18s set to face United at Brunton Park tomorrow night.

“The FA Youth Cup is a tournament everyone wants to do well in and, ultimately, win,” said Branson.

“It is a big game in the youth team calendar. Going in at round one isn’t something we’ve done for nine years. I should imagine we’re seen as one of the bigger teams in this draw.

“We’ve had Carlisle watched and seen some videos of recent games. We know what to expect and we’re going there with a game-plan we’re hoping to put into practice on the night.

“The lads are looking forward to it and are well-prepared. It’ll be different out on a first-team pitch under the lights, as it’s something they don’t do very often. Everyone’s looking forward to it and, hopefully, we can progress.”

Kick-off at Brunton Park is 7pm and admission information is as follows:

Adults - £3
U18s & Concessions - £1
