Striker Rhys Oates has penned a one-year deal at Oakwell to extend his stay with the Reds for a further season.
The 19-year-old enjoyed his first professional year at Oakwell during the 2013/14 season in the development squad and out on loan with Gainsborough Trinity and Stockport County.
A product of Barnsley’s Academy system, Rhys is a powerful striker with good pace and is chomping at the bit to gain first-team experience with the Reds next season.
“I’m thrilled to sign on again with Barnsley,” Oates told barnsleyfc.co.uk.

“I can’t wait to get going again over the summer and try my best to get some game-time with the first team.
“I’ve had two good loan spells at Gainsborough Trinity and Stockport where I learned a lot and scored a few goals. Now I want to score goals for Barnsley.”
