Brad Abbott signs new contract at Barnsley FC

27 May 2014

Nineteen year old midfielder Brad Abbott has today (Tuesday 27th May) signed a new contract for Barnsley Football Club ahead of the 2014/15 Sky Bet League One season.

Last season Abbott enjoyed a loan spell at Harrogate Town as well as playing for the Reds U21 side, but he is looking to impress Danny Wilson this summer and break into the Reds first team.

“I’m really happy to have been given a deal by the Gaffer and hopefully next season I can kick on and show just what I can do in the first team,” said Brad Abbott.

“No one wants to get relegated, but now that we are in League One as a younger player I think it will give me more of an opportunity to challenge for a place in the first team and stake a claim.

“I’m a creative player who likes to get on the ball, but I can mix it up as well. I’ll give my all and I’m not scared to put my foot in and I’ve been able to get a lot of goals from midfield over the last couple of seasons.

“Over the summer I will be working hard to keep myself fit. It will be a big pre-season as I try to catch the manager’s eye for a place in the team.”
