Kane Hemmings on signing for Barnsley

19 June 2014

A delighted Kane Hemmings spoke exclusively to Barnsley Player after signing for Barnsley Football Club.

The 22 year-old striker scored 24 goals in 39 appearances last season for Cowdenbeath in the Scottish Championship earning him the division’s Player of the Season accolade.

“I’m delighted to be here,” said Kane. “On the back of a good season I think this is a very good move for me. I want to hit the ground running, do well and continue what I did last season and score goals.

“In my youth days I started at Tamworth and signed for Rangers when I was 16 and was there for five years before going to Cowdenbeath.

“I scored a couple of hat-tricks last season so if I can replicate that again I will be happy.

“I like think I play well with another striker, I’m quick and can get behind defenders. Last season I had a great understanding on the pitch with the other striker and between us we were able to carve out a lot of chances. I will push myself to the end of every game and give myself an opportunity to score.

“It was great to be nominated for the Scottish Championship Player of the Year award with the other players that were in the running and I was happy just to be in the mix, but to win the award it was quite an achievement for a Cowdenbeath player.”
