Danny Wilson on Halifax Town match

13 July 2014

Danny Wilson gave his thoughts following the first pre-season match against Halifax Town.

Wilson started by outlining any potential injury concerns following the game.

"Kane Hemmings didn't play because of an ankle injury in training but he should be fine in a day or two. Jean-Yves had a tight thigh which is why he came off before the end but you expect a few niggles at this stage so we've come through fairly unscathed in our opening match.

"It was disjointed today. You can take one or two things out of the game but not a great deal. It was more about about getting some match practice in.

"We've seen areas that we need to strengthen. No matter how much you try to fill gaps sometimes it can be like putting square pegs in round holes and that is something we have to make sure we identify and bring players in to cover those areas. We know we need someone for the right-back position as well as looking at the midfield and striking positions. It's also important to be able to take a look at the young lads and see how they are developing.

"Halifax is just the first game and I don't want anyone to read anything into this match. Should we have won four nil I wouldn't have read anything into it.

"The trip away to Italy will be good for the squad. It's important that we get some time together, isolated away where we can try things, particularly with the couple of games we have out there."
