McLaughlin on Staying at Barnsley

31 January 2014

Liverpool’s Ryan McLaughlin was delighted to extend his loan deal until the end of the season.

Speaking to barnsleyfc.co.uk he said, “Initially it looked like I would be out for three or four weeks, but the way the injury has responded over the last few days it looks like it will be a lot shorter.

“I’m happy to be staying at Barnsley for the rest of the season. We’ve a lot of big games coming and I’m looking forward to playing a part in it and getting a lot of games under my belt.

“It will be great if we can stay in the mix and survive the battle to stay in the Championship and push on up the table.

“The Manager has brought some very good players in and I’m looking forward to getting back playing with them.

“I was really enjoying my debut against Blackpool and playing in front of a good crowd. To get my injury after that and not knowing what would happen for the rest of the season got me a bit down, but the gaffer said he was going to do everything he could to get me on loan for the rest of the season. Now that’s happened I’m just looking forward to getting back again and playing football at Barnsley.

“The gaffer has shown a lot of faith in me and told me he saw enough in my performance against Blackpool to want to keep me. I hope I am able to pay him back with my performances, help get clean sheets, assists and hopefully some goals and bring some success to Barnsley.”
